Irish manufacturer and innovator of workwear, safetywear and PPE partners with Centric Software® to streamline quality, safety and compliance
CAMPBELL, Calif., January 10, 2022 – Portwest has selected Centric Software‘s Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to provide a solid digital foundation and better manage complex product data during a time of growth and development. Centric Software provides the most innovative enterprise solutions to plan, design, develop, source and sell products such as apparel, footwear, sporting goods, furniture, home décor, cosmetics, food & beverage and luxury to achieve strategic and operational digital transformation goals.
Portwest is an Irish-based, family-owned business with a rich heritage dating back to 1904. Its product catalogue of 1350+ workwear, safetywear and PPE styles are infused with over 100 years of industry best practice and technical know-how. In recent times, the company has experienced exponential growth of 20% YOY and now employs over 4,500 people worldwide.
Portwest recognized an urgent need for digital transformation in order to safeguard their unique brand DNA whilst enabling them to scale at speed.
“Portwest has a very ambitious 5-year growth strategy and with that comes a need for digitalization. Our challenge was to maintain the culture of a family-run business but incorporate worldwide best practices,” says Lucy Fallon, Product Executive at Portwest.
Prior to PLM, the Portwest teams – who are spread across 130 countries – were storing extremely complex product data within disjointed systems such as Excel, Adobe Illustrator, SharePoint and email.
“Most of our range is certified to global standards, with some products falling under category 3 safety products. Every component goes through rigorous, ongoing testing and certification. Therefore, visibility and traceability of our products is paramount,” explains Fallon. “We were looking for a PLM that would unify all of our data into one single source of truth in order to give our design and production teams instant access to accurate data and compliance information.”
Portwest embarked on a thorough selection process and identified Centric PLM as the top solution to manage their niche product offering and scale with their business.
“Centric Software’s expertise and client references stood out to us. We’re very innovative, ambitious and forward thinking and wanted a technology partner that shared the same values,” says Fallon.
Portwest is looking forward to driving more efficient working practices thanks to Centric PLM and plans to utilize Centric’s 3D innovations as well as integrating top tier factories into the system to reduce sampling time, improve margins and speed time to market.
“Centric Software warmly welcomes Portwest as our first customer in Ireland,” comments Chris Groves, President and CEO of Centric Software. “We are proud to be part of the continued growth and development of a company producing compliant and vital safetywear such as PPE.”
